About Dr. Shamim

Dr. Md. Forhad Shamim professionally is a Naturopathic Physician & Acupuncturist. He is a Unani Naturopathic Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncture researcher, and Clinician specializing in Acupuncture of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Moxibustion, and Tuina (Chinese Massage). He is a PhD Graduate in Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Tuina from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he also served as a PhD Researcher at the Research Center of Experimental Acupuncture Science. His doctoral research focused on the biological and immunological mechanisms of acupuncture, particularly in inflammatory and neuroimmune diseases.

Previously, Dr. Shamim completed his Master's degree in Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina from the same institution between 2019 and 2022, where he earned recognition as the "Best International Graduate/Student of the Year 2022" for his academic excellence and research contributions. During his clinical and academic training in China, he worked extensively in acupuncture rehabilitation, stroke management, and integrative therapeutic approaches within hospital-based TCM settings.

Before advancing into master's and doctoral research in TCM Acupuncture, Dr. Shamim obtained his Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S.) from the University of Dhaka and completed his internship training at the Government Unani & Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka. His early professional career included work in pharmaceutical product management, followed by clinical practice as a Naturopathic Physician and Acupuncturist at the American Wellness Center in Dhaka.

Clinically, Dr. Shamim has gained hands-on experience through internships and hospital training at major TCM institutions in China, including the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Baokang Hospital Affiliated to Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. His areas of clinical interest include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, stroke rehabilitation, neuroinflammation, pain management, immune modulation, and integrative rehabilitation medicine.

As an emerging researcher in experimental acupuncture science, Dr. Shamim has contributed to several international collaborative publications focusing on acupuncture mechanisms, anti-inflammatory pathways, musculoskeletal disorders, cancer-related pharmacology, and traditional medicine research. His published works include studies on rheumatoid arthritis, knee osteoarthritis, prostate cancer bioactive compounds, and anti-tumor mechanisms of traditional medicinal fungi. His research particularly emphasizes macrophage polarization, immune regulation, neuroimmune communication, and molecular signaling pathways involved in acupuncture-mediated therapeutic effects.

Dr. Shamim's academic interests bridge traditional healing systems with modern biomedical science. His long-term goal is to advance evidence-based Unani Natural and TCM Acupuncture research and contribute to the global integration of Natural Medicine and Acupuncture of Traditional Chinese Medicine into modern healthcare systems through rigorous experimental and translational research.

In addition to research and clinical work, he is actively engaged in science communication and public health education through online content creation, especially in the fields of natural medicine, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and holistic wellness.
